All our lessons focus on you and your needs. We know how to supply for that in every way. Are you a little nervous about your techniques? Or is this your first time? Don’t worry about it. We aim to not only show you great places to fish but how to fish those spots.
The styles of fly fishing we practice on the Crooked River are;
- Dead drifting indicator style nymph fishing
- Dry fly fishing depending on the hatch when we switch to dry flies.
In all cases we provide personal instruction on how to be successful. There are techniques to reading the water, identifying insect hatches (matching fly patterns to those hatch), casting, mending and setting hooks in the fish’s mouth. We also cover ways to properly battle a fish so you don’t lose that prized picture.
We want you to be safe in the rivers here in Central Oregon or wherever you go. We go over all the equipment so you are familiar with it as well as how to safely wade through the river with it. You will get the skills needed to repeat these experiences with your own gear.
Going with a guide will help you understand water ecology and the river maintenance required to keep our fisheries healthy. We need to keep our rivers clean so we can keep having a great time catching big fish!
